Story
Joining up with More Than Fibro and the wider fibromyalgia community between now and 12th of may to cover a combined step count of 8 MILLION steps...the equivalent of 2,438 miles...the distance between Glasgow and Istanbul.
So why the 12th may date and why Istanbul I hear you ask. Well 12th of may is international fibromyalgia awareness day, a date picked because it was Florence nightingale's birthday and it's widely believed that she had fibro or a similar condition. Istanbul is where she was based as a nurse during the crimean war so that explains why it was chosen as a virtual destination.
On a good day I can average around 5-6000 steps so I'm hoping I can contribute a good number to the collective total....the good thing is though that every step and every penny counts for this one.
More than fibro do amazing work in raising awareness of the condition, supporting those with the condition in many ways including benefits support and they also have a hub at parkhead forge shopping centre that provides space for people, many with fibro, to sell their work. (Like me having copies of "how I became a butterfly" there....something I will always be grateful for)
As I say every single penny will make a difference to the longer term future of this wonderful charity and their vitally important work.
