Story
Home-Start were a big part of my "village" when raising my two kids. I first joined the pram walk when my first was newborn in 2021. We would meet for a walk and hot drink once a week, it helped me get out the house and it didn't matter if I was late or covered in a poonami, rain or shine they were there. Even on the worst days and having no sleep I always felt so much better afterwards. I made life long friends and the advice they gave me was priceless.
Then as my first got older and my 2nd was born I started going to the Home-Start playgroup. There I found I could sit down and relax with a cuppa whilst volunteers played with the children, they also had snacks, stories and games. The volunteers went above and beyond, listening and helping with any concerns and worries I had and holidays were made special with Easter egg hunts and christmas gifts. It gave me somewhere easy and safe to go that didn't need booking or cost any money.
Home-Start gave me a safe space to navigate being a mum, so now it's my time to give back.
I am not a runner, never have been and probably never will be but this opportunity arose and I couldn't say no. A way to get outdoors, get fit, socialise with my Home-Start friends and raise money for a wonderful charity. I'm going to try my best and if I have to walk it so be it but I will never give up!
So anything you could donate would be so much appreciated.
Thank you
