Story
In April 2027 I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon in support of Max Appeal, a charity that means more to my family than I could ever put into words.
My youngest daughter was born with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, also known as DiGeorge syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects everyone differently. From the very beginning she has faced challenges that no child should have to endure.
Having undergone 2 open heart surgeries within the first few months of life, living with a lowered immune system, learning delays and most recently being diagnosed with scoliosis, she continues to face challenges everyday.
One of the hardest things about living with 22q is the uncertainty. There is no way of knowing exactly how the condition will affect her as she grows. Each new stage of life brings fresh challenges, but it also brings new reasons to admire her courage, determination and resilience.
Throughout our journey Max Appeal have been there for families like ours by providing trusted information, support, education and a community of people who truly understand life with this condition. Knowing you're not alone can make all the difference.
running 26.2 miles will be a tough mental and physical challenge, but it is nothing compared to the strength my daughter shows every single day.
I'm running every mile for her and for every child, adult and family whose lives have been touched by 22q.
If you're able to support me, no matter how much, your donation will help Max Appeal continue their incredible work supporting families like ours and raising awareness of this little known condition.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and thank you for helping me turn every mile into hope.
Every mile I run is for my daughter, every donation helps families like ours.
