Alzheimer’s doesn’t take someone all at once. Instead, it slowly and relentlessly strips away their memory, personality, abilities, and sense of self over a long period. Losing my Dad in this way broke my heart. The worst days were when my Dad did not recognise my Mum , when his eyes were vacant , when he told me he no longer wanted to be here and there was nothing I could do to help him.
