Amber's fundraiser for Action Tutoring

The education system in this country simply is not fair. Pupils from lower income backgrounds are less likely to achieve academically; this should not be the case.
Disadvantaged pupils living in persistent poverty (i.e. on Free School Meals for more than 80% of their school life) are now, on average, over 22 months behind their classmates by the end of secondary school. Our support is needed now more than ever.
I work across several North London schools and have tutored myself on many occasions. These pupils are often so excited to be a part of tutoring and so grateful to have their own tutor. This additional support means that pupils can benefit from small group tuition and share opinions where they might not feel they are able to in a whole class environment. These sessions help to bridge the attainment gap by improving academic outcomes, helping to make education a fairer place. Reading the thank-you letters to tutors and feeling gratitude that these pupils have is really heart-warming and shows how much of a difference these sessions make!
We should be living in a world where no child's life outcomes are limited by their socio-economic background. By donating, you are helping a young person build their maths or English subject knowledge, confidence and growth mindset, opening opportunities for them in education and the working world.
