Aspire Channel Swim 2026

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Why I'm Swimming the Channel for Aspire

I'll be honest - I don't usually do these sorts of events as fundraisers. Normally I just do them for the crazy fun of putting myself through months of gruelling training. But this time is different.

This will be months of active campaigning for Aspire, and it matters.

Movement has helped me in so many ways throughout my life. Physical challenge keeps me grounded and strong. I'm deeply grateful to be able-bodied, and I want to use that to support people who face a very different reality.

Aspire supports people living with spinal cord injuries - people who've had their ability to move freely taken away in an instant. They provide practical help, emotional support, and work to improve quality of life for people navigating life after spinal cord injury.

This summer, I'll be joining Team Aspire Tuna to swim the English Channel relay - approximately 21 miles across one of the world's busiest shipping lanes, swimming through the night in water that rarely gets above 16°C. I'm looking forward to navigating the ships, jellyfish, and... well, err, you can probably imagine the rest.

Please support Aspire's incredible work. Every donation helps them continue providing essential support to people rebuilding their lives after spinal cord injury.

Thank you.
