Story
For over 37 years, Paramedic Eric Ambler has been a steadfast presence in the Whitby and surrounding community. Since 1987, Eric has dedicated his life to helping others as a member of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and previously also volunteered for Whitby RNLI. His commitment, compassion, and dedication have made him a trusted and well-loved figure among his colleagues and the people he serves.
In June 2024, Eric’s life took an unexpected turn. After a diagnosis of bowel cancer, which has since spread to his spine, Eric’s mobility has been severely impacted. Despite the challenges posed by his illness, Eric remained at work until his diagnosis, always putting the needs of others first. Now, as he undergoes immunotherapy treatment, his friends and colleagues are rallying to support him in a new way.
To show support for Eric and raise awareness for bowel cancer research, his friends and colleagues from the ambulance service are walking 22 miles, from Scarborough back to Whitby along the old railway line and Cleveland Way. Our goal is to raise money to help fund essential research into bowel cancer as well as to support the continued development of better treatment options.
This is not just about supporting Eric, but also about making a difference in the lives of countless others who are fighting the same battle. Every donation will go towards funding research, treatment, and ultimately, saving lives.
Please join us in supporting Eric by donating to this vital cause. Your generosity will help provide hope and contribute to life-saving research.
Thank you for your kindness and support!
