This year we’re taking part in the Twilight Walk – Glitter and Glow to raise money for LOROS Hospice.

On Saturday 20th June 2026 we will be walking alongside hundreds of others in memory of those that are no longer with us. Myself, Dave, Fliss and Bella will be walking in memory of our lovely Mum, together with a group of my amazing work colleagues who have been a big support to me throughout.

LOROS looked after Mum in her final few weeks, and we honestly can’t thank them enough. They made her feel so safe, comfortable and cared for - nothing was ever too much trouble and they always had time for her (and us).

She had her own private room, and there was always someone there to help, whether it was to ease her pain or just bring her a drink. LOROS made those final days feel more peaceful, not just for her, but for all of us.

One thing we’ll always remember is the “mocktail menu” — Mum was working her way through it and joked she had room service, pressing the call button to order drinks for her visitors. She would be sure to let us know which mocktails she had tried and it provided a bit of fun during a really hard time, which meant the world to us all.

LOROS is a local charity doing incredible work for patients and families facing the toughest moments. It costs around £9 million a year to keep their services running, and they rely heavily on donations, more so now than ever.

If you can spare anything at all to support LOROS Hospice, I’d be so grateful. Every donation helps to make sure other families can get the same care and compassion we did, so that they can be there for terminally ill patients and their families at a time when they need it most.

Every £1 donated will make a huge difference to people within our area, and will encourage all of us on as we walk in unity on this 10k sponsored walk round Leicester City Centre.
