Story
What better way to end my 26th year than by running 26 miles in my hometown of Newport for a cause I am passionate about?
My love for wildlife is no secret to those who know me. Therefore, I have decided to run a marathon to fundraise for the RSPCA East Winch Wildlife Centre. With the UK's wildlife rapidly declining, they need our help now more than ever! In 2023 alone, the Centre released 145 seals back into the wild. Many of these seals were rescued and rehabilitated due to plastic pollution, including ghost fishing netting. This work requires a dedicated team and a lot of resources, including food, medicine, and other expensive equipment. The Centre also posts about fundraisers, educational videos, and petitions to ban items such as ring flying discs, which often cause a lot of damage to our marine life. Their dedication to helping injured or orphaned wild animals such as hedgehogs, badgers, foxes, and birds is inspiring! Warning of some graphic images.
Any donations you can give to support my fundraising would be greatly appreciated! If making a financial donation isn't possible, there are numerous alternative ways you can help protect local wildlife. Consider constructing hedgehog highways in your gardens to enhance connectivity, planting wildflowers, building a pond, participating in litter clean-ups to prevent river pollution, planting trees, or volunteering at clean-up events or habitat restoration projects. The possibilities are endless!
Thank you!
