Amy was the first person I met at Leeds. As a terrified little fresher, she came bouncing into our first year kitchen with a huge smile across her face and put me instantly at ease. Her infectious happiness has touched the lives of so many and her positivity, bravery and effortless kindness is something I will take with me forever.

Amy was diagnosed with an AVM (arteriovenous malformation) in her brain. These are an entanglement of blood vessels which create improper connections between arteries and veins. Despite her unbelievable strength and bravery she suffered a fatal rupture and passed away on the 24th December 2023.

On the 12th May, I will be running the Leeds Half Marathon in memory and honour of Amy. Due to the rarity and lack of funding for AVM’s, there are limited treatments so any donations are hugely appreciated!
