Story
On Sunday 24th of May I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon in aid of the Thistle Foundation.
Across Scotland, the Thistle Foundation helps people with disabilities and long-term health conditions live independently and work towards the goals that matter to them. Their Health & Wellbeing team supports thousands of individuals navigating ongoing health challenges or difficult life situations, offering personalised and community-based care that enables people to remain in their own homes and live the lives they choose.
Having started working in mental health with NHS Fife, this charity really resonates with me. I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals from varied backgrounds, many of whom have faced incredibly challenging situations. Seeing the impact that the right support can have on someone’s life is a big part of why this cause matters to me.
Please consider donating to help the Thistle Foundation continue their care. Otherwise, if you’re free on the day, please come along and support as Thistle be the day I run (or hobble) 42k! Training has been that bit more challenging having recently been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and hypothyroidism, resulting in adjusting to new medications and fatigue. But hopefully crossing the finish line will feel that bit more of an achievement.
I have included my Strava link for those who want to follow the training process and I'll be aiming for a 3:30 time which is ambitious yes, mildly delusional but any support (or snacks) along the route will be greatly appreciated!
