April is Autism awareness month and to celebrate, we’re raising money for Bristol Autism Support 💙

On our Acute Medical Unit, we care for a wide range of patients, including those who are neurodivergent. Our goal is to continue improving AMU into a more inclusive, supportive, and understanding environment for everyone.

This month, we’re fundraising through sponsored walks and a bake sale to help support this work, with all proceeds going to Bristol Autism Support charity.

What AMU has achieved so far and are continuing to build on:

• Introducing tactile and calming resources.

• Creating Awareness Hubs with information boards to educate staff and visitors

• Award-winning progress through our project supporting patients with learning disabilities and/or neurodiversity

• Developing help guides for staff to ensure patients with autism receive the right support more quickly

• Completing autism awareness training to better support our patients
