Traumpfad

For tredje år på rad skal eg ut på langtur, og i det som no begynner å nærme seg ein tradisjon, ønskjer eg nok ein gong å forsøke å bruke slitet mitt til å hjelpe andre. Denne gongen er planen å gå Traumpad eller The Dreamway, frå Müchen til Venezia ved å krysse Alpene og Dolomittene. Av praktiske hensyn, og etter anbefalingar av andre reisande har eg valgt å «jukse litt» ved å droppe dei flatene etappane ut av Müchen i starten, og avslutninga inn mot sjølve Venezia.

Til tross for dette blir det nok av km i år også, og ruta er estimert til å lande på rundt 375 km og 21.000 høgdemeter. Planen er å bruke 19 dagar, noko som inneber godt over 1000 høgdemeter per dag. Eg får med andre ord ikkje dårleg samvittigheit for å droppe nokon dagar med flatmark i urbane strøk :P I løpet av turen er også planen å kome seg opp på 3152 moh Piz Boé, og dermed få ein etterlengta ny personleg rekord. Av hensyn til naturen og lokale regler, vil eg i år legge teltet igjen heime, og primært overnatte på lokale fjellhytter. Dette gjer kanskje at turen ikkje blir like «vill» som vanleg, men gjer også at sekken blir nokon kg lettare, noko som eg garantert vil sette pris på i løpet av turen.

Innsamlingane rundt desse turane har vore svært vellykka i mine auge, og difor noko eg syns det er verdt å forsøke å gjenskape. I år som i fjor håper eg så mange som mogleg kan bidra til å nå målet og ingen bidrag er for små! Organisasjonen eg samlar inn pengar for er også i år Leger Utan Grenser/Doctors without Borders. Dette er ein organisasjon som gjer eit utruleg viktig arbeid med å tilby medisinsk hjelp til menneske påverka av væpna konflikt, epidemiar og naturkatastrofar, uavhengig av rase, religion, kjønn eller politisk tilhøyrigheit. Dette er eit verdigrunnlag som eg i stor grad identifiserer meg med, og difor med godt samvit kan støtte, særleg med tanke på dei turbulente tidene vi no opplev. Eg håper at du vil bidra til å hjelpe meg med å nå mitt mål 😊

The Dreamway

For the third year running I’m heading out on a big adventure, and once more I wish to use this opportunity to help others through my own pain and suffering. This year I’m hiking the Traumpfad/ the Dreamway. This is an old hiking route from Munich, through the Alps and Dolomites, to the final destination of Venice. After doing some reading and looking at advice from other hikers, I’ve decided to drop some of the flat stages out Munich and when closing in on Venice. These stages seem to add little to the experience other than blisters and dangerous walking along trafficked roads.

Despite dropping a few kilometres, the hike will still be around 375 km, and have an altitude gain of around 21.000 metres. My plan is to do this using 19 days, meaning I’ll have to do more than 1000 m of altitude gain daily. So, I’m not getting away easy despite dropping some days. During the hike I also plan to hike the mountain of Piz Boé, with a height of 3152 m, and thereby breaking new ground for myself (previous record is around 2800). I will be using local mountain huts as accommodations, as much of the route is very high and exposed. Wild camping is even in some areas strictly prohibited. This means my tent is staying at home unfortunately, but still my backpack will be lighter, which will be much appreciated.

The fundraising done linked to these hikes have in my view been great successes and something I want to keep doing. Like last year, I hope as many as possible will help me reach the target, and no contributions are too small. Once again, the target for the fundraising is Doctors Without Borders. They are an organization that provides emergency assistance to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics and natural or man-made disasters, without discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. These are some great values which I really can identify with, and so it’s with good conscience I once again make them the beneficiary of a fundraising. I hope you will help me reach my target! 😊
