My name is Amy and I am setting up a just giving page on behalf of my lovely friend Elaine.

Elaine is wanting to raise much needed funds for an amazing charity.

Elaine, along with some supportive friends are all going to brave the shave. The lads are growing their hair and beards up until the day and Elaine is going to loose all her hair (on her head).

Elaine's own cancer journey began in 2021 when she was diagnosed with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma. This was treated by having a tonsillectomy followed by a tonsil bed removal and a neck dissection. Once Elaine had recovered from both operations she had a six week journey of radiotherapy every day alongside chemotherapy once a week.

The treatment was incredibly hard on Elaine's body and has left her with long term side effects.

However, 4 years on and Elaine is amazingly and thankfully still in remission.

Elaine received a huge amount of support from her partner Andy during her journey and would like to support a charity very close to Andy's heart and potentially help save the lives of adults, children and babies.

Meningitis Now was the first meningitis patient group in the world, founders of the meningitis movement charity are dedicated to fighting meningitis in the UK. In their 30 year history, they have invested over £12.7m in early stage research that has played a critical part in the introduction of five life-saving vaccines.
