Story
Myself and katy have decided to take on the challenge of running a half marathon to raise vital funds for the charity Sarcoma UK.
Sadly, our family has been affected by cancer many times, and charities like Sarcoma UK play a crucial role in funding research and ensuring that everyone affected receives the treatment, care, and support they deserve. Each year, around 5,600 people in the UK are diagnosed with sarcoma. Unfortunately, in 2023 our Grandad became one of them.
After losing our Nana to cancer just a year earlier, our family was once again devastated by the news. Grandad was diagnosed with dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma, an extremely rare type of sarcoma that accounts for only around 1% of all sarcoma diagnoses. Despite undergoing initial treatment, Grandad sadly lost his fight in March 2024.
Nana and Grandad were always our biggest supporters, especially of their grandchildren. We are taking on this challenge in their memory, to honour them, and to raise both funds and awareness for the charities that support so many families like ours during the most difficult times.
Any donation, no matter how big or small, would mean so much to us and will help ensure that the vital research and support provided by Sarcoma UK can continue.
Thank you for your support.
