Story
I first raised money for Anthony Nolan in 2009 when they sent an advertisement fax to my workplace. They were looking for people to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, I thought about it for a few hours and then signed up…..the panic soon set in once I read how much money I had to raise. But I managed to smash my fundraising target and conquer the mountain!!
I started researching the charity so I could tell people about the amazing work they do and why they should donate to such a worthy cause. How could I ask people to donate money and join the stem cell register if I wasn’t willing to do it myself?! So I joined the register myself and went on to donate my stem cells to a stranger in 2016.
Having seen first-hand the amazing work they do to save lives, and also how much money the charity spends transporting donors to London for health checks and hotel stays during the donation I felt the need to raise money again to pay them back for the costs associated with my donation. I rode the London-Surrey100 bike ride in 2017, having never ridden more than 10 miles in one go before. It was a wonderful experience and such an amazing achievement!!
Now I feel ready for another challenge, I've got an Anthony Nolan t-shirt from my trek, a cycling jersey, so why not add a running vest to the mix. I’m not really built for running, so obviously I’ve chosen to run as it presents the biggest challenge to me. I’m going to run 13.1 miles through three beautiful London Parks in October 2025.
