Story
I’m running the London Marathon for my incredible nephew, Vinnie, and for all the neurodivergent children who don’t always receive the support, understanding, and opportunities they deserve.
Vinnie is six years old, non-verbal, and autistic, and he is deeply loved by all of us. He is thriving and doing so well, but his journey is still ongoing. He continues to need the right SEN school placement — a place where he can truly flourish, be understood, and be given the tools he needs to reach his full potential.
My Sister and Steve are incredibly grateful for his current local school, who have been amazing, and for his dedicated 1-to-1 support who goes above and beyond every day. Their care, patience, and commitment are making a real difference while we wait for the right school placement for Vinnie.
My one wish is to one day hear Vinnie talk. And if I could hear him say “Go Auntie Amy” as I cross the finish line, that would mean more to me than any medal ever could.
He is surrounded by so much love. My children are amazing with him — patient, kind, and always ready to meet him exactly where he is. Stan, his big brother, loves him so much and helps him with anything he needs. He truly is the best big brother, and the bond they share is incredibly special.
My sister Gemma and her husband Steve are nothing short of incredible. They work full time, they give absolutely everything to Vinnie, and they never stop fighting for what he needs. Gemma doesn’t drive due to her epilepsy, which adds another layer of challenge to everyday life. This isn’t a pity party — but it’s important to understand just how demanding life can be for families like theirs, even when they’re doing everything right.
The marathon itself is a real challenge for me, but I will cross that finish line — and I will do it for Vinnie.
I’m proud to be fundraising for Space, an amazing charity that supports families of children with additional needs and helps them feel understood, supported, and less alone.
I’m incredibly grateful for any donation, no matter how small. Your kindness, encouragement, and support mean the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being part of this journey 🤍
