On 4th October, we will be taking on the challenge of running the Cardiff Half Marathon in aid of Marie Curie. All the money raised will help Marie Curie provide vital care and support to people living with a terminal illness, and their families at the toughest time.

We have decided to run for Marie Curie in memory of our Mammo. During Mammos final weeks and days, Marie Curie were a huge support to not only Mammo but our whole family. The care was personal and nothing short of amazing.

Mammo passed away in August 2025, she was a huge part of our lives and there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t think of her. She would call us mad for doing the run but would love to know we are doing this in her memory and we’re sure she would be cheering us on throughout the way.

Mammo had a way of lighting up every room she entered. She was truly the most incredible woman I’ve ever known, always ready to listen to my stories and the plans I was so excited to share. The memories I hold of her will never fade; they remain vivid and treasured in my heart.

I learned so much from her — from painting and cooking to the quiet strength of patience. She and Grampy showed me what true love is meant to look like, and for that I will be forever grateful. She promised she would always be with me wherever I go, so I know she’ll be cheering us on every step of the way during the half.

I was lucky enough to know Mammo for two wonderful years. The time I had with her was always full of laughter and love. We often talked about our past and experiences. One of the many qualities I loved about Mammo was that she always had time to sit and listen, no matter what she was doing. Mammo taught me calmness and patience—things that she always embodied. I will forever be grateful to you, Mammo, for all the stories, all the memories, and all the laughs. I will cherish these forever.
