Story
After completing my first half marathon in April 2025 for MacMillan Cancer Support, I’ve decided to double the distance as part of Team MacMillan for the London Marathon 2026. A charity that will forever hold a very special place in my heart.
In 2012, my mum was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumour. MacMillan were there every step of the way, offering care, compassion and support when we needed it most. Their help made an incredible difference to our family during one of the hardest times of our lives, and this run is my way of giving something back. This is a huge challenge for me but taking this on and running in memory of my mum and knowing the money is going to those who need it most is what will carry me through.
There are currently 3.5 million people in the UK living with cancer, a number that sadly is continuing to rise. Most of us have been affected in some way, either personally or through someone close to us. In 2024 alone, MacMillan supported 2.4 million people going through cancer.
These numbers show just how vital their work is. They provide physical, emotional and financial support to people living with cancer and their families. With 98% of MacMillan’s services funded by public donations, every pound really does make a difference and why choosing to run the London Marathon in aid of MacMillan is so important. All money raised will help them continue their invaluable work so that no one has to face cancer alone.
Any donation, big or small, will be hugely appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance. 💚🏃♀️
