Story
Maisie’s story began when she was born with a rare, benign tumour called a Sacrococcygeal Teratoma. This diagnosis necessitated surgery to remove the tumour, so we were transferred to the Manchester Children’s Hospital for the procedure. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and provided with an abundance of support. Maisie’s surgeons played a crucial role in her recovery, but her wound recovery has not been straightforward. She required further intervention at the hospital, resulting in multiple A&E visits. Again, the support we received helped us feel reassured and at ease. We are grateful that Maisie’s wound is now healing, and we pray that it continues to improve.
As Maisie grows, she will have ongoing reviews with her surgeons. We feel grateful to have such an amazing hospital on our doorstep. To give back and support other families who may be going through similar experiences, we want to raise money for this charity.
In May, Maisie and I will be walking 100k, and we will be joined by friends and family along the way. We will share our walks with you and invite you to join us on our journey.
