On 9 September I will be taking on 40tude's Cycle Challenge, riding up to 400km in just 3½ days with each day ascending the equivalent of Ben Nevis. I’m very nervous. It’s longer and higher than anything I’ve done before, by a hefty margin. Update – due to traffic control issues on 8th September and flight cancellations I am now undertaking this challenge in the UK.

I am riding for a charity called ‘40tude’ which funds research into early detection and treatment of colon (bowel) cancer. It is the number one cancer killer of non-smokers in the UK, but it is one of the easiest cancers to treat if it is detected early. 40tude aims to raise awareness of the importance of getting tested regularly for this treatable cancer, ideally from your mid-40s.

If you can make a donation it would be hugely appreciated. Raising money for this good cause will help me get up the hills!

I should add that all donations will go to the charity. I have funded all the trip costs myself as have the other riders.

But the most important thing you can do is to get yourself tested regularly for colon cancer, and encourage your loved ones to do the same.
