What could possibly go wrong?

Over the August Bank Holiday Weekend 2026, Amy, Lewis, Linda and Kevin will be setting off from Lincolnshire in not one, but two minis that are both more than 20 years old, heading all the way to North Devon to take part in the Legendary Grand Tour (LGT).

2026 marks a particularly special year, as the Legendary Grand Tour celebrates its 30th anniversary. Founded by Terry and Linda Baker, the event first took to the roads of North Devon in 1996 and has since become one of the UK's most iconic Mini events, bringing together hundreds of enthusiasts while raising vital funds for Children's Hospice South West.

For Amy, this event is especially close to her heart. Growing up in Devon, she first attended the Legendary Grand Tour as a young teenager in 1996 with her older brother and quickly fell in love with the atmosphere, the cars and the community spirit. After passing her driving test and getting her own Mini in 2001, she returned to take part for several years before eventually relocating to Lincolnshire. Being able to return for the 30th anniversary event makes this year's tour even more special.

Known as "Mini Madness", the Legendary Grand Tour sees up to 250 classic and modern Minis travel some of North Devon's most spectacular coastal and countryside roads, all while raising money for an incredible cause. It's a fantastic weekend that combines stunning scenery, great company and a shared passion for Minis with fundraising for families who need support.

Of course, before we can join the convoy, we first have to get our ageing Minis from Lincolnshire to Devon! With hundreds of miles to cover, plenty of hills, and cars that were built when flip phones were cutting-edge technology, we're hoping enthusiasm, determination and a basic toolkit will be enough to get us there and back again.

We're taking on this adventure to raise money for Children's Hospice South West, an incredible charity that provides vital care and support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families. They offer hospice care, respite breaks, emergency support, end-of-life care and bereavement services, helping families create precious memories and providing expert care when it's needed most.

The charity relies heavily on donations to continue its amazing work, and every pound raised makes a genuine difference to the children and families they support.
