Story
On 26th May 2024, Amy, Katie & Jack will be running the Great Manchester Run Half Marathon, in tribute of Amy’s close friend, Pippa, who heartbreakingly passed after a 5 year battle with an APXA brain tumour in March of this year.
Pippa was the most kind, tenacious woman and her soul was truly one of a kind. Pippa was truly hilarious, finding humour at almost every stage of her journey, such as naming her brain tumour “Wally” and resilience, in passing her university degree with a 2:1, frequently telling everyone around her “what’s your excuse?”
Teenage Cancer Trust, TCT, was exceptionally important to Pippa, providing her and her family with exceptional care throughout her journey. TCT uniquely embed units into wider NHS hospitals across the UK, meaning young people like Pippa can have their families stay with them around the clock, and relax in dedicated safe spaces where you can still be normal, have fun and not be judged. TCT also fund specialist cancer nurses to provide dedicated support for young people and their families. All this has meant that Pippa never had to go through the most difficult of times alone. The special TCT lounge also meant we could still celebrate the biggest life events when Pippa was in hospital - including her wedding to her beloved George in December last year.
We will be forever grateful to TCT for their support to Pippa and her family throughout this time, and what they continue to do for so many families across the UK. Pippa is now at peace, but please join us in raising money for such an important cause in her memory.
Thank you
Amy, Katie & Jack
