Story
In November 2023, my family experienced an unimaginable loss when my uncle lost his battle with cancer at just 53 years old. His death changed my auntie’s and cousins’ lives forever. He left behind his wife and his three amazing children, two of whom were just 12 and 14 years old at the time. He also left behind a family who loved him beyond words. Losing him has left a hole in our hearts that will never truly be filled, and his absence is felt every single day.
Watching someone you love go through cancer is heartbreaking. It doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed – it affects everyone around them. Our family experienced the fear, sadness and helplessness that so many families sadly know all too well.
That’s why I’ll be running the 2027 TCS London Marathon in his memory and raising money for Sobell House Hospice. The care, compassion and support they provide to patients and their loved ones during the most difficult times is truly invaluable, and I want to help ensure other families can continue to receive that same support.
Running 26.2 miles will be one of the toughest things I’ve ever done, but it is nothing compared to the battle my uncle faced with such incredible courage. Every training run, every mile on marathon day, and every step across that finish line will be for him.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how much, I would be so grateful. Every pound raised will make a difference and help Sobell House continue their incredible work.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for your support, and for helping me honour my uncle’s memory. He will always be loved, always be missed, and never be forgotten. ❤️
