Story

I will be walking a full marathon (London Winter Walk 2026) in loving memory of Millie Hope Butt 💞🦋

I'm so honoured to have been asked to take part in this event by Millie's incredible mummy and my life long friend Charlotte. Her time on earth was very short but the impact she's left will always be with us, forever one of the Wilmo girls💞

Please take the time if you have it to read Millie's story and consider donating however big or small to such an incredible cause.

About the King’s College Hospital Charity:

Every year in the UK, thousands of people experience the loss of a baby whether that be in pregnancy, or at/soon after birth.

The loss or the death of their baby, can have far reaching effects. Good care cannot eliminate the pain and grief families experience, but it can help them through this devastating time.

At King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust we have dedicated Bereavement Midwives (at Kings College Hospital and at Princess Royal University Hospital) that aim to provide excellence in bereavement care to help families who experience the loss of a baby. We also offer bereavement suites where families who have experienced loss can stay with their baby after passing. We are passionate about continuously reviewing and developing the service to increase the support offered to families at this difficult time and all monies received will go towards improving the service.

Millie’s Story - written by Millie's mummy 💞🦋:

"After several weeks of scans and tests followed by a fatal diagnosis, Millie was born sleeping on Saturday 14th June 2025 at 1:28am and we spent 34 beautiful hours with her in the Robinson’s Suite (the bereavement suite) at Princess Royal. This room had everything and more and we will always cherish the time that the room provided us as a family.

From a large double bed and en-suite to kitchen and large area for Millie and her cuddle cot, these features alone allowed us to spend precious time as a family and for Jake to stay the night with Millie & I.

On top of this, the room was equipped with bereavement books and leaflets, a beautiful memory box created by Simba volunteers featuring items that could be left with Millie and matching items for us to take home, a huge TV on the wall, windowsills draped in fairy lights, a rocking chair, sofa, a brightly lit memorial tree full of other sleeping angels’ names and even children’s books to read to Millie. Despite still being hospitalised and treated regularly, the room felt anything but a hospital room and we were given the chance to experience what it would’ve felt like to take Millie home.

We have found a lot of comfort in the sunshine this summer but colder months later this year will bring new challenges for us as a family. To honour our beautiful and perfect baby girl (also known as our forever 9th Wilmo girl amongst my group of school friends), some of my best friends and I are walking the London Winter Walk 2026 Full Marathon in Millie’s memory and to raise vital funds to support the upkeep of the Robinson’s Suite at Princess Royal and the amazing work the bereavement midwives do across both sites. Without the room and midwife care available to us, we genuinely believe grieving Millie’s passing would’ve been an even harder process."

On top of ongoing running and upkeep costs of the room, the furniture and thoughtful accessories, below are the costs associated with memory boxes:

- Small Memory Box with items: £16.39

- Medium Memory Box with items: £57.64

- Large Memory Box with items: £64.99
