Story
So here we are again! As many of you know I was originally running the London Marathon in 2024 but due to the last minute offer of my reconstruction surgery in December I was unfit to run. So that takes us to now. I am fit, I am healed and healthy and I am ready to face this challenge. London Marathon 2025! I am running for the incredible Cancer Research Wales and am so incredibly proud and privileged to do so.
In July 2020, with a six month old baby and in the middle of that covid lockdown thing, I was diagnosed with aggressive stage 3 breast cancer. I was 29 years old with no family history and two young children.
What followed was a year of gruelling chemotherapy, hospital admissions, sepsis, surgery and more chemotherapy. Thanks to covid restrictions all of this was done without family next to me at the hospital and with social distanced help and support when home. Thanks to my incredible medical team, my amazing family, my phenomenal husband and my beautiful children, 4 years later I am here, I am healthy, I am the fittest I have ever been and I am ready to give something back.
Exercise has been a major part of my recovery, physically. and mentally but I am not a long distance runner and this is a huge challenge- a challenge I am more than up for. Any donations you can give to support Cancer Research Wales is greatly appreciated. Every penny will go towards ensuring cancer patients in Wales, just like me, get the world class treatment and care that they deserve.
Running this marathon is my ultimate thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last four years. Every single day I am so grateful to still be here and to be able to say yes to opportunities just like this (no matter how scary!) There were times when I didn't think I would be around to see my children grow up but in April 2025 I'll be running every single one of those miles to see my beautiful Phoebe and Benjamin at the end!
London 2025 BRING IT ON!!!
