I've worked closely with children in the Early Years who experience speech and language difficulties, and I’ve seen how powerful targeted support can be. Now, in my role at SENDIASS, I regularly speak with parents whose children face similar challenges — many feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to turn. During my BA degree, I deepened my understanding through research, but it’s my hands-on experience that’s shown me just how vital communication is to a child’s overall development. Language doesn’t just unlock learning — it shapes relationships, emotional resilience, and self-expression. It’s also vital to recognise that not all children will communicate verbally, and many require alternative methods to express themselves.

That’s why I’m fundraising for Speech and Language UK: to champion early intervention and ensure every child has the tools they need to thrive, not just now, but throughout their lives.
