I’m taking on the AJ Bell Great South Run 2026 on 18 October 2026 in support of Tapestry Day Club - Dementia Support, and I’m truly grateful for every person who chooses to donate.

This marathon is more than a personal challenge — it’s a chance to stand alongside a cause that provides vital care, companionship and encouragement for people living with dementia and for the families who support them.

My Dad, Geoff, was diagnosed 12 years ago with memory loss/cognitive impairment. He had a professional career for over 30 years and now lives with Alzheimer’s, which means he can’t be left by himself and relies completely on my Mum for support 24 hours a day.

We wanted to find a group that my Dad could be part of with like-minded professionals, where he would feel welcome and safe and be treated with respect and integrity. Tapestry Day Club offers exactly that and allows my Mum to have a much deserved break each week. Two compassionate friends, Anderley Wade and Clare Jones, set it up in 2019. Their mission was to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment within a family-home setting, to enable a small group of people living with dementia a place to engage in social interaction, meaningful activities and receive compassionate care that enhances their quality of life and supports their families.

Dad has been part of Tapestry for five years now (he is on the right in the photo here with the biggest smile). It has been transformative for both my Dad and my Mum. The host for Dad’s group, Ian Minto, does an utterly brilliant job as do all the other hosts and we can’t thank them enough for their support.

Tapestry Day Club is a charity that provides the opportunity for people suffering with early-stage dementia to enjoy an engaging and enjoyable day out in small groups while giving carers a much-needed break.

My goal is to raise £1,000 for this important charity and I would be so thankful for your support in helping me reach this target.
