Welcome to Amy & Lenny's Challenge 2025 for Abby's Heroes!

We are Amy Hodge and Lenny Dalby, we work together at a law firm with offices across the country (more of that later, we promise it's relevant!) and are based in Southampton (<waveshello>).

We are raising money for Abby's Heroes, this year's office charity, and a charity to which Amy has a personal link.

Abby's Heroes is a children's cancer charity, which supports children, teenagers, young adults and their families, including bereaved families, who come under the care of the the Piam Brown Ward and the Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) wards at UHS - Southampton General Hospital.

Abby's Heroes supported Amy's nephew and his family, and so we wanted to do something to repay the support they received. We were discussing what challenge we could do to raise money, something outside our usual comfort zone. Amy's much more comfortable in the water than on the tarmac, and nowadays I am more a 5k runner than longer distances.

We have run the Southampton 10k before (back in 2022), Amy was running for Abby's Heroes then. (Lenny was being supportive; and slow).

"How can we take that to the next level?" we wondered. Ah, Lenny thought, what about rather than one 10k in Southampton, how about a 10k in the location of each of the 8 offices?! We would both run Southampton then split the others between us.

So, we mooted it with our work place. Everyone was very encouraging. And suddenly The Idea became Very Real – we were going to have to run multiple 10k races over 4 months <eek>. It's not just doing the distance once as we had done before, but doing it, staying fit and doing it again; and again; and again. All whilst juggling jobs and families.

With equal excitement and trepidation, we ordered new trainers in the January sales (Lenny), press-ganged friends into taking part (Amy), and started booking race entries.

We know how much it will mean to Abby's Heroes, and the thought of not letting you or them down can get a runner across the finish line when there's 1k to go but it's all uphill.
