Story

In May 2023, I was diagnosed with severe idiopathic scoliosis. My spine curved into an “S” shape, with angles measuring 42° and 63°.

Before surgery, my scoliosis made me look extremely lopsided, which left me feeling self-conscious and insecure about my appearance. It affected my confidence, my posture, and the way I saw myself every day. On top of that, living with scoliosis and facing a major operation took a toll on my mental health — from anxiety about the surgery itself, to frustration and fear during recovery. Learning to cope with these emotions became as important as rebuilding my strength.

In September 2023, I underwent major spinal fusion surgery — a 6-hour operation where my spine was fused and held in place with titanium rods drilled into my spine with screws. It’s ranked as the second most painful surgery in the world, and the recovery was as tough as it sounds.

I had to learn to walk again and spent the next seven months gradually regaining my independence. At times, I truly believed my life would never be the same. But the experience taught me resilience, patience, and the power of a strong support network.

Now, I’m taking on a new challenge: 26.2 miles through the streets of London.

I’m running to prove that spinal fusion has no limits — that even after life-changing surgery, anything is possible. I’m running for everyone living with scoliosis, those awaiting surgery, those in recovery, and the incredible researchers and specialists who make treatment and progress possible.

My goal is to raise £2,000 for vital research and support services. If you can donate — no matter how big or small — it’s much appreciated and really means a lot!
