Story
In August 2023 I was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Astrocytoma brain tumour which I was told was terminal. After 2 surgeries to remove as much of the tumour as possible, under 10% was and is still here. From daily sessions of chemotherapy & radiotherapy for 6 weeks and then additional chemo for 6 months, this was draining and terrifying to accept and try to survive.
I am so grateful to the Brain Tumour charity, ability to contact them as and when required, guidance on how to ensure daily tasks do not need to be stressed about and also to provide a 1-2-1 counselling service allowing me to discuss many of my feelings and fears that nobody wants to share with family or friends. This made such a difference on how I was feeling and helped me to get through my treatment, it helped me in to a routine and get some independence back without feeling terrified and angry due to memory issues etc, every day. Will always be grateful for their support as well as precious support provided by them to members of family & friends.
This challenge is to conduct 34 minutes of exercise for 34 days together. I may have begun 1 week early as if I don’t, there’s a chance I could forget😂
By raising £300 - its enough to fund an entire day of pioneering research - in the next 12 months, that’d be a big step up and an even bigger leap forward for people affected by brain tumours.
