Story
We're reaching out to share a deeply personal journey we are embarking on and to ask for your support.
This July, Amy and Lynsay will be walking the Camino de Santiago, It’s a beautiful pilgrimage that spans over 500 miles, We are walking the Portuguese route 124km. But this isn’t just a personal challenge it’s a way for us to raise funds for an incredible charity Brain Injury Matters Belfast.
As many of you may know, Amy's dad Simon suffered a severe stroke at just 52.
This changed his life drastically, leaving him unable to walk and talk. He spent just under a year in hospital and rehabilitation. Learning how to do everything all over again. He’s had a really tough few years a lot of silent battles, a lot of moments of uncertainty, wondering how he’s going to overcome this. But he didn’t quit - he choose to pick himself up again and again. Thanks to the amazing support from Brain Injury Matters, he has found a new sense of independence, confidence, and joy every week at their Pedal Power sessions at Connswater.
This charity has been a lifeline for Simon - Amy's dad and many others like him. It provides not just physical rehabilitation, but a community where individuals can connect, share their experiences, and find hope.
The Pedal Power sessions allow him to engage in activities that bring him happiness and a sense of normality something we all crave.
Amy and Lynsay are walking the Camino not only to honour my dad's journey but also to raise £5000 for a specialized bike or equipment they may need. This will enable Simon and others to continue their rehabilitation and enjoy those transformative sessions at Brain Injury Matters.
Each step Amy and Lynsay take will represent the strides Simon has made in his recovery, and every donation will help secure resources for this vital charity.
Your support means the world to us. Even the smallest contribution can make a significant impact. Together, we can ensure that Simon and countless others have access to the services they need to reclaim their lives after brain injuries.
Thank you for considering supporting this cause that means so much to Amy and Simons family. We appreciate every bit of encouragement and support as Lynsay and Amy take on this journey.
