Story

I am taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Dementia UK on the 12th of October, 2025, along with my brother Chris. We are doing this in memory of our Grandpa who had Alzheimer’s and who sadly passed away last October. This journey is also in honour of our other Grandad who has recently been diagnosed with dementia, and my family on both my Mum and Dad’s sides, who have faced or are facing the emotional rollercoaster that dementia brings along with it.

Dementia does not only affect the person diagnosed with it. It is vitally important to remember the ripple effect that impacts the person’s spouse and family, and the overwhelming toll this takes on their health and wellbeing as well. Seeing my Grandpa, Grandad and family go through this has been so incredibly sad.

Dementia UK is a specialist dementia nurse charity. Their nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia. They help individuals with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. These dedicated professionals have the time to listen and the expertise to help to solve problems, empowering families to take back control when they are struggling.

I am aiming to raise at least £500 for this important cause. Your support can help ensure that more families receive the care and support they need. Please consider donating to my fundraising page for Dementia UK at the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025. Both myself, and my brother Chris would greatly appreciate your support!

Thank you ☺️
