Story
I will be running the London Marathon 2026 to raise money for a cause that is very close to my heart. Both of my grandmothers have been affected by glaucoma. One sadly lost sight in one eye, and the other is currently undergoing treatment to preserve what little sight she has left.
Watching them go through this has been difficult. I’ve seen my grandma’s vision deteriorate to the point where everyday things became a struggle — no longer being able to read books, write letters to friends, or even use a phone properly. Beyond the practical challenges, it has been heartbreaking for our family to see their independence and confidence be taken away.
Over 700,000 people in the UK have glaucoma, and half of them don’t even know it. Glaucoma UK is working to change that. They campaign to raise awareness so glaucoma can be detected early and treated, they support people to live well with the condition, and they fund sight-saving research.
That’s why I’m supporting Glaucoma UK. If my grandmothers had access to this kind of support earlier, it might have been possible to preserve more of their vision.
By donating, you’ll be helping Glaucoma UK continue their vital work.
