IRONMAN 70.3 VENICE · 5 May 2024

The overall aim is to bring about a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life. We aim to further the health, wellbeing, safeguarding and support of children and parents of children in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Story

Towards the end of last year, I lost my incredible Grandpa to pancreatic cancer.

Raised in Leicester, his love for football led him to become a dedicated supporter of Leicester City Football Club for more than 70 years. When I was just 4 years old, I went to my first-ever game with him. Little did i know this would spark 18 years of cherished memories at the King Power Stadium. A week before he passed away, when words fell short, we found joy in rewatching all the Leicester City highlights from the last decade on YouTube. Our shared passion for Leicester, both the city and its football team, was very important to our relationship.

So,

In just under 7 weeks time, I'm going to be doing the Venice Ironman 70.3 to raise money for Home-Start Horizons. This charity supports families in Leicester with children under five facing challenges such as social isolation, poverty and domestic abuse, ensuring these early years positively impact these children's futures. After talking to the charity's CEO, Stuart Sullivan, I realized just how important donations are right now. He mentioned that they're getting more requests for help, but funding is decreasing.

The combination of my Grandpa’s love for this city and his compassion for children to have a good start in life, regardless of their situation, makes this fundraiser a fitting tribute to his memory.

I would be so grateful for any donations to support this cause. Thank you.

N.B all donations go directly to the charity. I’m personally funding the triathlon entry and all costs associated with it.
