The Rikunenko’s fundraising 2025 in honour of Simon Rikunenko

Our first fundraiser this year involves Simon’s much loved Sister Helen, Helen is going above and beyond and taking part in the London Marathon to hopefully persuade you amazing people to part with your cash and help us continue our fundraising journey in 2025. All in honour of the most amazing man!
26.2 miles of pure torture if you ask me, however this lady is a super hero, she will be training through the long hard, very cold months to take on this challenge. It will be an emotional journey but I know Simon will be there with you through every step. So let’s dig deep and make her commitment worth it.
Our backstory
Simon fought his cancer so well but lost his battle on 28/10/23. In honour we aim as a family to keep fundraising and supporting his mission to ensure families had the same support and amazing holiday we had.
So far we have raised over £22,500 and we won’t stop there
We are setting up a new page to support the caravans for 2025.
As his family we have to keep this going. Our efforts cannot stop here. We know you have given so much but please in his name share the post. Let’s see how much we can do
Simon was diagnosed with stage 4 sarcoma and secondary lung cancer on Friday 13th May 2022. It has been the hardest time ever for us with Simon having six weeks of intensive chemo where he had to be in hospital for three days at a time, 30 rounds of radiotherapy, 2 battles with sepsis and numerous throat infections along the way. However he very rarely moans and tries his best to keep going for all of his family through all his pain and battles. Along this journey Simon has been able to receive some support from a small charity called ‘Balls to Cancer’. Not only did they provide him with a chemo support pack, full of things he didn’t know he would need along his journey, but came in really useful. But recently he was one of the last people to be given a free family holiday to Burnham on sea. Where we were able to go and just be us again. However this small charity is not able to do this at present as they need to raise £40000 just to continue the holidays. To support this we are going to be taking on challenges as a family. We completely understand that money is tight for everyone, and we hope you never need the services of a charity like this, if you could possibly spare a few pound in supporting us that would be amazing. Between us we are going to be swimming, running and cycling across the month of June to get the furthest distance we possibly can. If you feel like you could do one, two or all of these things as well and want to add to our total that would also be amazing. We will update our journey as we go. Please look at our go fund me page and give anything you possibly can for this amazing cause. Thank you all! Amy & family x
