Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you may already know seashells children centre is being threatened to have its funding cut by KCC, this has come as a real shock to all of us and we all want to do everything in out power to keep it open.

Seashells children centre is more than a centre, it’s a safe place for all that attend. For those who doesn't have a close family network or many friends, wanting to get out within the community to fill that void and being welcomed with open arms. It’s staff are another extended family, that are well and truly devoted to their jobs and helping families within the community and the results from their support is eye watering.

As somebody that accesses the centre for many years I worry what the impact it will have on those that so desperately need that rest bite and a safe place to breathe and socialise and those that dont have to suffer alone the whole time the centre remains open.

Since attending Seashells i‘ve become confident and i no longer feel isolated and i know many others feel the exact same way.

Seashells stay and play groups are a lovely and chilled environment where the kids can go off and safely play and parents are able to socialise with one another, sharing their stories and tips and even developing strong friendships.

seashells aim is to always reach the community and that they do, by getting everybody together with their wacky events during half terms (colour fun being my fav)

having bouncy castles, arts and crafts, baby area, water area, construction for the kids, it offers so much for everybody to have a fun filled day.

i and everybody else that attends the centre have had the opportunity to access courses through the centre that have encouraged us to learn new things and most importantly life skills.

these are just some of the examples of what seashells offer- antenatal classes,

postnatal classes,

baby massage,

austism and ADHD awareness

family first aid

parenting classes

cooking on a budget

make and munch

the sensory room

story sacks

coffee morning

risisng stronger (where you learn about Ace’s adverse childhood experiences) where they offer strategies and support to recover from childhood traumas.

money makeover

getting back into work

Seashells also help those who are financially struggling with food, and offer ”the pantry” where you pay a small percentage a month and each wednesday excuse you go down to the centre and you're able to get fresh fruit and veg as well as cupboard items and fridge items.

allowing families to be able to eat healthy and ensure they have food in their house on a discounted price.

if it wasn't for seashells and their unconditional support Im not quite sure what direction my life would of gone, thanks to all the workers I am the best mum I could possibly be with a great network of friends and my extended seashell family that i cherish so much.

please even if everybody donates as little as 10p we would still reach our goal, as a community lets stand together snd save our Childrens centre and family hub
