Help Us Raise £1,000 to Save Lives in Our Community

At Tesco Gerrards Cross, we’re proud to support our local community, and this time we’re raising £1,000 for Thames Valley Heartbeat to help fund a lifesaving defibrillator for our local area.

A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere and at any time. In those crucial first few minutes, having access to a defibrillator can mean the difference between life and death. By working together, we can help ensure that lifesaving equipment is available when it’s needed most.

Our fundraising is being supported through our second-hand bookcase in store, where every book purchased helps raise money for this fantastic cause. We’re also incredibly grateful to the local businesses that support us by making voluntary donations when advertising their services on our community banners outside the store. Their generosity, alongside the kindness of our customers and local community, is helping us move closer to our goal.

Since 2019, Thames Valley Heartbeat has been dedicated to making communities across the Thames Valley safer by providing publicly accessible defibrillators and delivering CPR and defibrillator familiarisation sessions. The charity is run entirely by eight volunteer trustees who give their time freely, meaning there are no salaries, administration costs or expenses. Every pound donated goes directly towards purchasing defibrillators and supporting the charity’s lifesaving work.

Cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of premature death, but with immediate CPR and early defibrillation, many lives can be saved. Every minute counts, and having a defibrillator nearby dramatically increases a person’s chance of survival.

Many people are understandably nervous about helping during a cardiac arrest. That’s why Thames Valley Heartbeat also provides confidence-building familiarisation sessions, giving people the knowledge and reassurance to act quickly in an emergency.
