Growing up through YMCA programs in my hometown of Salisbury, Maryland, I was able to be exposed to a diverse group of youth from all different socioeconomic backgrounds. It also provided me an opportunity to instill YMCA core character traits -honesty, caring, respect, responsibility and FAITH- into my life. As an adult, I now recognize the true value the YMCA had, not only on shaping me into who I am today, but also for giving me a servant leaders heart to want to give back and work in the non-profit sector for this great organization for the last 18 years! The YMCA Day of Giving is a chance to change the trajectory of a child’s life through youth development programs at the Y!

There are many issues facing our community, but thankfully the Y is uniquely positioned to help meet many of these needs. In 2024:

• The Y will provide over $2 million in financial scholarships for programs like preschool, afterschool and summer camp.

• Over 3,000 children will be served with literacy instruction through programs like Y Readers, which is offered at no charge to participants.

• Over 1,500 children will receive swimming lessons at affordable rates for their families.
