When I was 32, I was at a crossroads in my life. I had the opportunity to join the Army as a dentist, and after a successful interview at Sandhurst, I was ready to step into a military life. I could envision a future in the military, with its sense of purpose, structure, and camaraderie. But life had other plans. I met my ex-husband, had our beautiful daughter, and made the choice to embrace that path instead. Yet, the pull of the military never left me. I’ve always admired its discipline and stability, qualities that I deeply value.
I’ve struggled with the ambiguity of life—its unpredictability and the challenges it throws at you. For a long time, I felt lost in it. The military, with its clear structure, represented something I yearned for: security. I have always longed for something to lean on, a foundation to hold me steady. It’s easy to feel isolated when no one seems to understand your inner turmoil.
But over time, my own struggles have helped me develop a deeper empathy. I’ve come to realize that there are others who suffer far worse than I can even imagine. People who’ve faced unimaginable horrors, yet continue to move forward with grace and strength. These are the people who inspire me the most—the ones who have witnessed the darkest sides of humanity and somehow manage to keep going.
Now, as I begin a new chapter in my life, my focus is shifting. I want to give, not just receive. I want to reach out, offering what little I have to those who might need it. If I can help even one person, if my journey can bring even a small bit of light to someone else’s dark times, then I will consider it a success. To extend a hand to others, to make a difference where I can. And in doing so, I hope to find a sense of peace within myself.
