Story
I’m taking part in Bolton Hospice’s £50 Challenge, where the aim is to turn £50 into as much money as possible for an incredible local cause.
Bolton Hospice is there for people at the most precious time of all: the end of life. Whether someone has months, weeks, or only days left, they help make sure every moment is filled with dignity, comfort, and care.
So naturally, I have chosen the calm and sensible fundraising route of jumping out of a plane.
For anyone who knows me, knows this is ridiculous. I have a genuine fear of falling. If you have ever walked behind me going down a flight of stairs, you’ll know I take each step painfully slow & very dramatic. No trust in the structure whatsoever.
My boss was originally meant to do the skydive, but he has decided he is “busy”, so apparently I’m being launched into the sky instead (cheers, Ryan).
All money raised will go towards supporting Bolton Hospice patients and their families. Every donation, big or small, helps them continue providing specialist care, comfort, and support when it matters most.
To give you an idea:
£10 could provide clean bed linen for a patient staying in the inpatient unit.
£16 could pay for an hour-long complementary therapy session for a patient or carer.
£24 could pay for one hour of specialist, compassionate nursing care.
£46 could pay for a bereavement support session for a family after the death of a loved one.
£127 could pay for Hospice at Home nurses to visit a patient, helping them stay at home surrounded by family.
So please sponsor me if you can.
Not only will you be supporting an amazing charity, you’ll also be helping justify me willingly exiting a perfectly good plane.
Which, to be clear, still feels like a very questionable life choice.
