We did it! Kilimanjaro 2024 - For The Snowdrop Project

Lots of different fundraising stuff culminating in a LONG (HIGH) WALK! · 31 July 2024
In a bid to raise awareness and much-needed funds, we have decided to respond to this enormous challenge laid down by our friend Lara, CEO of the charity Snowdrop.
The Snowdrop Project is a South Yorkshire-based charity that provides long-term holistic support to empower survivors of human trafficking in the UK to recover from their past and rebuild their future.
“Rescue is a one-off event. Freedom is a journey.”
Those of you who know us will be aware that we have supported the Snowdrop charity since Lara took the bold step to set up the charity 11 years ago. From small beginnings, the charity now has a huge impact on the lives of survivors as well as influencing parliamentary policies on this under-recognised and hidden problem.

Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world at 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) above sea level and falls into the ‘extreme altitude’ category of hills 😊. Due to the low air pressure at this altitude, there is approximately half the oxygen in the air than there is at sea level. Altitude sickness is a real risk. Blood oxygen levels can fall below 70% (normal at sea level being 99%) meaning that any exertion is very difficult. Even though we feel that we are relatively fit we recognise that this is going to be a significant challenge and we have some serious training to do between now and then.
More to follow – we will keep you updated on our progress and on specific events we will be running.

We intend to carry a banner up the mountain showing the logos of any organisations who choose to support us. We will use this during our training and in our regular social media updates so, if you are a business and would like to support us and raise your company’s profile, please get in touch.
