We support people in the north of Scotland who are affected by cancer or a blood disorder. Working hand-in-glove with the NHS, we take care of the ‘big little things’, and we fund cutting-edge equipment and research. Every penny makes an impact as our operating costs are covered by Balmoral Group.

Story

ANM Group's chosen charity for 2025 is Friends of ANCHOR!

I am proudly taking part in Aberdeen Kiltwalk 2025 to support this fantastic charity that is so close to my heart. In December 2024, my Mum was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer which had spread to her brain, at the young age of 53. It has been an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking journey for my Mum, my Granny, my two younger brothers and myself.

Mum is fighting this awful disease with grit and determination, but after having a really positive step in her cancer journey and almost getting home, Mum suffered a massive brain bleed which has set her right back with a difficult recovery ahead. Mum has lost her ability to communicate properly and has suffered paralysis on one side of her body.

Friends of Anchor have been a monumental support to me and my brothers throughout Mums time in hospital. They have been providing a P&J every day, coffee and toast in mornings when we stay over and provide a range of snacks and refreshments for the ward. They also have two dog therapets that visit twice a week and they even come and do Mums nails and massage for her. The emotional support is so vital for patients and family and I for one could not have coped without them.

Every step we take is for a cause that truly matters. Thank you for supporting us on our fundraising journey.
