Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Nervously excited to be part of a little team of 4 friends (Sophie, Mills, Al and me) who are going to try and swim the English Channel this year. Its 50km of really cold water between us and France - and no wetsuit allowed.

The good news is we're raising money for an amazing charity that supports 50,000 people in the UK who have suffered from spinal cord injuries. These are life changing accidents that can happen to anyone, usually meaning a wheelchair for the rest of your life - and Aspire brings hope, experience and essential support to help rehabilitate and get people their lives back. It's been really inspiring hearing their stories - and with your help we'll be fired up help them - and give the channel our best shot!

We will set off from Dover targeting 20 July at 2am (with possible delays from our ever present friend, the British weather) and swim in relay for around 12-18 hours (tide and wind dependent) each swimming one hour stints at a time. The rest of the time we're holed up on a little fishing boat wim hof breathing and trying not to throw up.

It's a great charity that deserves all the help you can give, so massive thank you for being as generous as you can! Your support now will help inspire our little team to get back in the 10-12 degree water for more training sessions this month! Thank you
