ANDREW BRADLEY is raising money for THE CHRISTIE CHARITY

GM RINGWAY WALK from · 31 March 2026

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In January last year I was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma brain tumour, the deadliest of brain cancers with a terminal prognosis. Approximately 3,000 people in the UK are diagnosed every year with this terrible disease. This came totally out of the blue for me, in fact I had just played one of my best games of football a few hours before we ended up in hospital. How quickly life can change..

Fortunately, as we were given this devastating news, Dr Gerben Borst was recruiting candidates to undertake a clinical trial called Portrait. This entails wearing adhesive patches on my head linked to a power pack for a minimum of 18 hrs a day, sending electrical fields to disrupt the cancer cells which stops the tumour from returning. I am 15 months post diagnosis now and this pioneering technology is literally saving my life.

March is Brain Cancer Awareness month so I have decided to undertake the GM Ringway Challenge (gmringway.org), starting stages 1&2 this Saturday 28th, to raise funds for the Christie hospital. We also need to increase awareness of this amazing treatment and exciting pioneering technology so it will be adopted by the NHS and patients can have access to it from their earliest diagnosis.

With the support of my amazing family and friends I am looking forward to starting this 200 mile challenge and am grateful for any support you can offer. I will post updates for when and where the next stages of the walks will start and everyone is welcome to join me.

I am living and loving my life, I have invaluable time with my wife, sons and family that I thought I'd lost – We need this super technology to be recognised and adopted, so more patients are given hope and the gift of time with those they love.
