Story

Migraine is the most common and disabling neurological disorder in the UK, which affects 1 in 7 people.

I want to take the opportunity to raise awareness of this disorder and raise money to fund research & treatments.

Also to inspire any migraine sufferers thinking about taking on a challenge. You can still achieve your goals ✨️

My Migraine Story

Something that I've struggled to be open about until now, a disorder that I have personally suffered with for the last 13 years and only of recent months the daily attacks have drastically slowed down meaning I'm back being able to live my life to full again!

How Migraine affected me

Living with migraine, nearly every aspect of my life was impacted over the years. At first, I disregarded my symptoms as a simple headache. A GP appointment followed, i was referred to Walton Neuro when I was then diagnosed with a pituitary tumor which later didn't require surgery. I was then diagnosed with chronic migraines which are much more difficult to manage.

Just some of the symptoms I've experienced with migraine - problems with mental processes, Asphasia, visual temporary blindness, difficulty speaking, exhaustion, body heat, nausea, brain fog.

Attacks lasted for days sometimes and suddenly breakout hindering ability to do ordinary everyday tasks or spend time with friends etc. The sensitivity to light, sound and noise, meant making up a excuse to then miss out on social gatherings altogether.

There were times as expected when this disorder had a negative impact on my mental health as expected. But I am grateful and blessed I've been given a way out, my support and those two wheels, as cycling as helped me massively!

I'm always up for a challenge, let's do this 10k! ✌️

About the event

Everesting is a brutally simple concept – cycle repeat climbs of one hill in a single activity totalling at least 8,848m of elevation, 107 miles and join the elite group of riders accredited by Hells500 – holders of the Everesting Hall of Fame.

This year I'm going for the Ultimate Challenge of 10,000m!!

A dedicated and inventive cyclist Chris Gambs came up with the concept of claiming the record for the most riders completing an Everest in one event. Norway holds the record at 54.

June 4th 2023, 77 riders took to the start line, it was an amazing day with some epic and heroic battles on Peaslows. However, we didn’t make it the record as 45 riders completed an Everest. 10 short of the record.

I personally completed an Everest in 2023 which I was chuffed with but the record was just a cherry on top!

If we get 55 or more riders to complete an Everest then we will set a World Record, we try again!!
