Story
While I like running, I have never wanted to do a marathon.
Its way too far, and the training takes so much time!
I entered the ballot with a few friends, under the understanding, that my odds were very low.
Unfortunately, I am the only one to have got a place. So… here we are. 😅
As a ballot placeholder, I don’t have to raise money for charity, but after hearing about the breadth and quality of the research ReMind UK supports, I felt compelled to. I’ve highlighted some of that work below to show exactly why I’ve chosen to support them, and why I find their work so inspiring.
ReMind UK is an independent Bath-based dementia charity/centre working closely with the University of Bath on research projects, regional health-research networks, and community fundraising.
What makes ReMind UK special is the combination of:
• Research into the neurodegenerative diseases that cause dementia
• Memory assessment services
• Post-diagnosis support for people with a diagnosis, and for carers
Remind helps fund early-stage dementia research (including Phase 1–2 trials); this is some of the hardest work to fund, but importantly, it’s where promising ideas become real progress.
ReMind UK is small enough to be agile and nimble, but big enough to make a huge difference — your donation supports both cutting-edge research and direct help for people locally.
I’m personally excited about current and future Remind collaborations with Bath University. As a Bath graduate, I’ve seen first-hand the University’s brilliant, research-driven lecturers who encourage students to think big.
If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean a lot and it genuinely helps!
And if you can’t donate right now, sharing this post is a huge support too. 💛
WISH ME LUCK IN THE MARATHON I REALLY NEED IT
