Long Distance Lake District Triathlon · 5 September 2024

Tiny Lives is a charitable trust that helps to care for 800+ premature and sick newborn babies and their families each year. It supports the Newcastle Neonatal Service at Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary that cares for babies from across the North East and Cumbria.

Story

My nephew Lewis Wakeling was born on 13 January 2018, 10 weeks early. He spent the first eight weeks of his life in the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, where he and his family were supported by Tiny Lives. Lewis is now going strong, in part thanks to the support of Tiny Lives. He completed the Mini Great North Run in 2023, raising money for Tiny Lives.

I will be taking on a long distance triathlon in the Lake District over 48 hours:

- Swim: bottom to top of Windermere, 10.5 miles.

- Cycle: Fred Whitton Challenge route, 112 miles around the Lake District roads with over 10,000 feet of climbing.

- Run: Bob Graham Round, 66 miles around the Lake District fells with 27,000 feet of climbing.

I have completed ironman triathlons over the past couple of years, but this will be by far my biggest challenge yet!
