Andrew's fundraiser for Legend on the Bench - Someone is always listening

Andrew Flute is raising money for Legend on the Bench - Someone is always listening
In memory of Stephen Flute
The goal is to install benches in as many public parks throughout the UK, discreetly inscribed with a QR code, that opens up an array of supporting organisations for Mental Health issues and Suicide Awareness/Support. Someone is always listening...

Story

We are raising money in loving memory of Stephen Richard Flute, who sadly passed away on 23rd January 2026, aged 48.

Steve was born in Bedford and grew up in Houghton Conquest, where he made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories. From an early age, he lived life with humour, adventure and fearlessness — always making people laugh and always bringing energy wherever he went.

Steve spent most of his working life in retail, and wherever he worked, he became known for his warmth, kindness and ability to make people feel welcome. Customers quickly became friends, and no one ever left without a smile.

In 2012, Steve met the love of his life, Penny, and together they built their home in Braceborough. In 2015 they welcomed their daughter Eliza, who was Steve’s proudest achievement. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a caring stepdad to Sam and Joseph, and a much-loved son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was also a very proud dog dad to Claude.

Steve had a rare gift — the ability to light up a room with his quick wit, warm smile and generous heart. His passing has left a huge space in the lives of everyone who knew him, but his laughter, kindness and love will live on through the family and friends he leaves behind.

Thank you for helping us remember Steve and celebrate a life that was full of love, humour and connection. Every donation, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated.
