The Fragile X Society is the only charity dedicated to individuals and families living with Fragile X syndrome - the most common cause of inherited learning disability. We are continually working to improve the quality of life for all people impacted by Fragile X.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In March this year, Thomas (my son, Catriona’s nephew) was diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome.

To help raise money for the Fragile X Society and awareness of the condition, my sister Catriona and I will be running the Edinburgh half marathon on 25th May this year.

Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is a genetic condition, affecting around 1 in 4000 males and 1 in 6000 females. It can cause a wide range of difficulties with learning, as well as social, language, attentional, emotional, and behavioural problems.

The Fragile X Society aims to improve the lives of those affected by Fragile X and associated conditions by providing information and continued support to families and professionals they work with. Working together with those affected, the Society supports an inclusive community of people who understand the specific needs of Fragile X.

Whilst Thomas is a happy boy (as you can see from his picture 😊 ), he, and others with FXS, face a number of challenges. The Fragile X Society relies on generous donations to be able to continue to provide and develop their support for people living with Fragile X.

Any donation, large or small, would be greatly appreciated.
